The Aguata Local Government Area chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a significant step toward strengthening its grassroots presence with the convening of a strategic stakeholders’ meeting aimed at fortifying ward structures ahead of the party’s forthcoming membership registration exercise.

The meeting, which was held at the Uga residence of prominent political stakeholder, Dr. Tony Offiah, brought together key party leaders and stakeholders across Aguata. It was presided over by Chief Sir Tim Egboka (Kpakpando Umuchu), who, in his opening address, stated that the essence of the gathering was to enlighten the grassroots, strengthen ward-level party structures, and adequately prepare for the official kickoff of membership registration.

Chief Egboka further urged party faithful to actively propagate the ideals and vision of the ADC, describing the party as the platform on which their “son and brother,” former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, is pursuing the presidency. He emphasized that Ndi Anambra have a moral responsibility to support Obi’s aspiration, describing him as the most credible candidate capable of delivering a better Nigeria.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tony Offiah, who served as the Director-General of the ADC Senatorial candidate during the last by-election, described the ADC as the long-awaited political platform for Nigerians yearning for good governance. According to him, the party embodies the aspirations of millions who believe in integrity, accountability, and national rebirth, ideals he said are well represented by Mr. Peter Obi.

Dr. Offiah passionately appealed to party members and stakeholders to reject money politics and resist the temptation of vote-selling during elections. He urged them to remain steadfast, unite behind the ADC, and intensify grassroots mobilization by spreading the party’s message across their respective wards.

Other stakeholders, including Hon. Ikem Uzoezie and Chief Andy Azike, echoed Dr. Offiah’s position, stressing the need for unity, discipline, and collective commitment to grassroots sensitization and mobilization. They called on members to shun divisive tendencies and work together to build a formidable party structure in Aguata.

Speaking on behalf of the State Working Committee, the ADC State Chairman, Comr. Patrick Obianyo, assured members that the party would operate an open-door policy that accommodates diverse interests. He pledged transparency in party affairs and reaffirmed the ADC’s readiness to compete and win elective positions in Anambra State during the 2027 general elections. He further promised a level playing field for people with political aspirations, urging members to embrace unity, dedication, and aggressive grassroots mobilization.

The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of ADC membership cards to stakeholders, during which Dr. Tony Offiah formally revalidated his membership of the party, further reinforcing his commitment to the ADC’s vision and growth.

In his closing remarks, the ADC Aguata Local Government Chairman, Mr. Ugochukwu Okafor, called on stakeholders to actively support ward and local government party structures, particularly in hosting ward meetings. He reiterated the party’s commitment to fairness and inclusivity, assuring members of equal opportunities within the ADC.
