No fewer than 3,000 Christian clerics from across Anambra State and other parts of the country are expected to converge in Uga, Aguata Local Government Area, on January 15 for a covenant renewal gathering.

The event is being organised by clerics operating under the umbrella of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) in collaboration with the Biafra Independence Movement (BIM).

Expected participants include bishops, pastors, prophets, prophetesses, deacons, deaconesses, and other men and women of God representing various Christian denominations.

Speaking to journalists in Nnewi on Tuesday, the Anambra South Senatorial Zone leader of the group, Apostle Akunne Chukwuemeka, said the covenant renewal meeting was organised to express gratitude to God for what he described as answered prayers, divine mercy, and spiritual guidance.

According to him, the clerics have made it an annual tradition to publicly thank God, especially at what they consider significant and defining moments in their collective spiritual journey.

“We are at the brink of crossing over. God has answered our prayers, and it is only right that we return all the glory to Him,” Apostle Chukwuemeka said.

He explained that the gathering would serve as a period of thanksgiving, deep spiritual reflection, and renewed commitment to God, as the group believes it is entering a new phase characterised by divine intervention and the fulfilment of long-standing prayers.

Also speaking, the Director of Ihiala Legion and current Administrator of Area 3, Apostle Cyril Ohanebo, said the programme would be dedicated to communion with God, prayers, and thanksgiving for the future.

He noted that the clerics would use the occasion to appreciate God and celebrate what he described as divinely ordained better days ahead.

“We believe that God has appointed a time to liberate His people, just as He delivered the Israelites. This gathering is meant to acknowledge Him and prepare ourselves spiritually for what lies ahead,” Apostle Ohanebo said.

The organisers expressed confidence that the event would be peaceful, orderly, and spiritually uplifting. They also urged participants to maintain unity, discipline, and a spirit of brotherhood throughout the programme.
