Nnewi-born former Speaker pro tempore of Anambra State House of Assembly during the 3rd House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barrister Benchuks Nwosu has been named the Chairman of Membership Mobilization, Revalidation, and Registration Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State. This was revealed yesterday in Abuja, during a meeting of the National Executive Committee of the ADC, where critical stakeholders of the party were assigned various responsibilities ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Barrister Nwosu, a popular lawyer and former chieftain of the Labour Party, had moved into the ADC just before the Anambra 2025 gubernatorial election last November. In the Labour Party, he also served in the Contact and Mobilization Committee for the party’s presidential election that saw Mr. Peter Obi emerge as both the third force and the most consequential contender, given the outcome of the election.
In this new role, Barrister Benchuks Nwosu is expected to bring along his longstanding political experience, as a former Campaign Director General to Dr. Chris Ngige, former Governor of Anambra State in 2010. He is expected to bring his competence also as the Director of Mobilization for the 2013 Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah’s Governorship Campaign, as well as his position as a political strategist to the John Chuma Nwosu 2025 Governorship Campaign in Anambra State, among many other national and state political responsibilities assigned to him over the years.
Recently, there has been a convergence of politicians in the ADC in Anambra and parts of the Southeast, as many of them hope to ride on a new ‘Obi wave’ to power in 2027.
Ahead of the 2027 General Election, Rt. Hon. Benchuks Nwosu is expected to rally support and revitalize ADC’s membership and grassroots base to drive votes to the party’s candidates in 2027.
