There is a likelihood that the Anambra State Government may blacklist, suspend or expel pupils and students who continue to observe the Monday sit-at-home, despite the order having been called off by the state government and the Indigenous People of Biafra.
Reliable sources said the government could begin the exercise by opening new attendance registers in all schools, dedicated specifically to Mondays.
Any student or pupil who fails to attend school on one or two Mondays within a month may not only face expulsion but could also be denied admission into any other school in the state.
According to the source, the drastic measure is being considered because of the nonchalance and refusal of some parents to allow their children attend school on Mondays, despite the end of the sit-at-home directive.
The source also disclosed that most examinations and other important school activities may be scheduled for Mondays as a strategic step to expose students and pupils kept away by recalcitrant parents.
Meanwhile, the state government is said to have outlawed meetings, sports and all forms of gatherings in communities on Mondays in order to restore the day as a normal working day in Anambra State.
Parents, stakeholders and religious leaders have been urged to take advantage of the directive and ensure compliance in their homes.
