Jubilation as Reconstruction of Relief Market Begins

Traders at Ogbaru Main Market, popularly known as Relief Market, have expressed excitement following the ongoing reconstruction of the market spearheaded by the executive led by Chief Ndubisi Ochiogu.

The redevelopment project, which covers all market lines, aims to address long-standing structural challenges that previously hindered accessibility and safety within the market. Notably, the old layout made it difficult for firefighting vehicles to access certain areas and also limited network connectivity for traders and visitors.

The initiative aligns with the directive of the Anambra State Government under Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo. The directive was conveyed through the Special Adviser on Parks and Markets, Chief Evaristus Uba, who emphasized the need for a safer and more accessible trading environment, particularly in emergency situations such as fire outbreaks.

In compliance, the market leadership, including Chief Ndubisi Ochiogu and Chief Bucknor Agu, mobilized traders and resources to begin reconstruction work.

A visit to the market shows significant progress, with many sections already transformed. The upgraded layout now allows better ventilation and improved access for heavy-duty vehicles transporting goods, enhancing both safety and efficiency.

Traders who spoke during the visit commended the market executive for what they described as proactive and transformative leadership. Many described the changes as unprecedented, noting that the improvements would boost business activities and overall market experience.

The reconstruction is expected to further position Ogbaru Main Market as a safer and more trader-friendly commercial hub in Anambra State.
