The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has assured the military of the full support of his administration in ensuring adequate security of lives and property in the state.

Governor Soludo gave the assurance through his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, when a team of military officers working towards the establishment of a brigade in Anambra paid him a courtesy visit at the Light House, Awka.

The Governor described the military as a critical force in addressing the current security challenges in the country, noting that his administration will continue to collaborate with security agencies to guarantee the safety of Ndi Anambra.

Governor Soludo, who recalled the period when the state faced attacks from non-state actors who claimed to be freedom fighters, stressed that the joint efforts of the military, police, and the state security outfit, Agunaechemba, helped restore peace and sanity, and expressed optimism that the establishment of a military brigade in the state would further strengthen the security architecture.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Major General Raymond Utsaha, said the team had conducted an on-the-spot assessment of areas with high security threats across the state, noting that the planned establishment of a brigade in Anambra, which will include the deployment of a battalion, is aimed at addressing insecurity, and appealed for the support of the state government to ensure smooth operations.
