The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has unveiled its provisional timetable and schedule of activities for the conduct of its 2026 primary elections, setting the stage for the nomination of candidates for the 2027 general election.
In a public notice issued by the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, the timetable aligns with the revised schedule released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on February 26, 2026, and is anchored on provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and the APGA Constitution (2019 as amended).
The timetable was signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Ifeanyi Mbaeri, who reaffirmed APGA’s commitment to conducting a transparent and credible primary election process.
According to the schedule, the sale and return of Expression of Interest forms for prospective aspirants will commence on April 30 and close on May 8, 2026.
This will be followed by a series of screenings for aspirants seeking to contest various offices. National Assembly aspirants are slated for screening on May 11, while those vying for State Houses of Assembly will be screened on May 12.
Governorship aspirants are expected to undergo screening on May 13.
The party fixed May 14 to May 21 for the purchase and return of nomination forms by aspirants who successfully scale the screening process. Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be entertained on May 16.
Primary elections for all elective positions are scheduled to hold on May 23, 2026, across designated constituencies.
The exercise will cover State Houses of Assembly, governorship, House of Representatives, and senatorial contests. Appeals from the primaries are slated for May 28, while a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) to ratify nominated candidates will take place on May 30.
APGA also released the cost of nomination forms for various offices. Presidential aspirants are to pay a total of ₦75 million, comprising ₦25 million for the Expression of Interest form and ₦50 million for the nomination form. Senate aspirants will pay ₦21 million, while those contesting for the House of Representatives are expected to pay ₦6 million. Governorship aspirants are to pay ₦30 million, while State Assembly aspirants will pay ₦3 million.
The party, however, granted concessions to female aspirants and persons living with disabilities, who are to pay only 50 per cent of the nomination form fees.
In the notice, APGA emphasised that all payments must be made via bank draft or manager’s cheque payable to the party, stressing that the fees are non-refundable.
Aspirants are also required to submit relevant documents, including proof of payment, party membership cards, and academic credentials.
The party noted that only aspirants who are duly screened and cleared will be eligible to purchase nomination forms and participate in the primaries. It further reserved the right to adjust the timetable in line with developments or directives from INEC.
“All intending prospective aspirants are strongly urged to ensure strict compliance with the stipulated timelines and provisions guiding the exercise,” the notice stated.
