Single Mother Cries Out Over Court-Ordered Eviction from Father’s House in Anambra

A single mother, Ndidi Nbelu, has cried out against a magistrate court order which forcefully ejected her from her father’s house.

The order according to her was given while she was fighting for her life in a hospital bed.

Narrating her ordeal, Nbelu said, “An Awka Magistrate Court, presided over by His Worship, Mrs. E.C. Chukwu, ordered my eviction from my late father’s compound at No. 25 Enekwechi Street, Ngodo village, Nise, in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“The order directed that by 6pm on Sunday, April 19, 2026, neither I nor my belongings should remain in the compound.

“At the time this order was carried out, I was hospitalized following a ghastly motor accident that left me with serious injuries and required major surgery on my leg.

“From my hospital bed, I watched helplessly as my life was turned upside down.

More than legal matter

She described the court-backed eviction as more than a legal matter but a painful betrayal.

“My brothers, led by my elder brother, Chief Damian Enekwechi, had long sought to push me out of the home our father gave me while he was alive.

“Under the guise of renovating the family compound, they pursued what I see as a calculated plan to displace me.

Eviction order

“Now, all my personal belongings have been thrown outside the gates, exposed to harsh weather and damage.

“Everything I own lies scattered, unattended, and vulnerable.

“What hurts most is that this happened despite ongoing legal efforts to protect my rights.

“My lawyer had already filed a motion to stay proceedings because the same matter is before a High Court. Yet, the magistrate court proceeded to issue the eviction order.

Seeming injustice

She went further, “To me, this feels like injustice — a system that has failed to hear my voice and protect me in my most vulnerable moment.

Some of Nzelu’s property

I am left not only battling physical pain from surgery but also emotional trauma from losing my home, my security, and my dignity.

“All I ask is for fairness, for the law to truly protect, not punish.
