The state government has stated that Chief Austin Ndigwe has denied authorizing any individual or group to report that he is still the “Eze Uzu III” of Awka.

According to the government, Ndigwe formally renounced claims that he is still presenting himself as the “Eze Uzu III” of Awka.

This was contained in a statement issued by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, and made available to journalists in Awka.

According to Opara, in a letter personally signed and submitted to the Governor of Anambra State and the Attorney General, Ndigwe distanced himself from viral social media posts linking him to the Awka throne.

The statement added that Ndigwe described the reports as the handiwork of mischief-makers and insisted that he never authorized any such publication.

“Such information seeks to implicate me… they are made in utmost bad faith,” he said.

The statement further noted that Ndigwe reaffirmed his respect for the government White Paper arising from the Commission of Inquiry into the Awka kingship dispute and declared his commitment to the peace and stability of the ancient kingdom.
