The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected criminal, identified as Okechukwu Chinweko, popularly known as “Bullet,” over his alleged involvement in cases of abduction, rape, and unlawful possession of firearms.

The suspect was arrested by police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, in the early hours of May 16, 2026, following credible intelligence.

Acting on the information, the operatives stormed an identified hideout in the Umudike community in Awka, where the suspect was apprehended.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect had a tattoo inscription bearing the name “Bullet” boldly written on his arm.

Ikenga disclosed that during the operation, the operatives recovered one locally fabricated Beretta pistol and eight rounds of 9mm live ammunition.

He further stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was positively identified in connection with an incident that occurred on May 2, 2026, during which he allegedly abducted and raped a female victim before police operatives later rescued her.

The police spokesperson added that the rescued victim was found with varying degrees of injuries on her body, while the suspect fled the scene before his eventual arrest.

According to Ikenga, the Anambra State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents and to bringing perpetrators of crime to justice, regardless of how long it takes.

He added that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
