President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the South-East Development Commission (SEDC), Mark Okoye, on his 40th birthday, commending his contributions to public service and leadership in regional development.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Okoye’s dedication, resilience and commitment to service, describing his 14-year record in public office as unblemished.
The President noted that before his appointment as head of the SEDC, Okoye served in several strategic positions in Anambra State, including Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, Special Adviser to the Governor, and later Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners.
Tinubu said the milestone birthday provided an opportunity to celebrate Okoye’s achievements and contributions to governance, particularly his efforts in driving development initiatives and economic planning.
He urged the SEDC chief executive not to relent in his responsibility of steering the commission and ensuring the successful delivery of its mandate for the development of the South-East region.
The President also expressed confidence in the role of young and innovative leaders in shaping the country’s future, saying Nigeria remains on a promising path with individuals such as Okoye serving in key positions.
“As a youth-centric leader, the President states that, with Okoye and many other innovative young people in his administration, the nation’s future remains promising,” the statement said.
Tinubu joined the celebrant’s family, friends and associates in wishing him a happy 40th birthday, good health and renewed strength for continued service to the nation.
