She stressed the need for early testing, informed health decisions and greater access to quality healthcare services beyond awareness creation.

According to her, the celebration was not only opportunity to honour resilience of warriors daily battling sickle cell disorder, but to reduce burden of sickle cell disease and improve quality of life for victims.

She said, “Today, we stand in solidarity with individuals and families affected by sickle cell disorder—a condition that demands not only medical attention but also understanding, compassion, and sustained support.

“As we raise awareness, let us encourage early testing, informed health decisions, and greater access to quality healthcare services.

“Together, we can help reduce the burden of sickle cell disease and improve the quality of life for those living with it.

“Today, we honour the resilience of warriors battling sickle cell disorder every day and reaffirm our commitment to building a society where no one is left behind because of a health condition.”
