Nigeria’s foremost airline, Air Peace, has secured a major breakthrough in its quest to become a global aviation powerhouse after receiving approval from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to operate scheduled international flights to and from the South American nation.
The landmark approval authorizes Air Peace to operate regular passenger, cargo and mail services between Brazil and destinations across its growing international network, opening the door for direct air connectivity between Nigeria and Brazil for the first time by a Nigerian carrier.
The development marks another significant step in the airline’s aggressive international expansion programme.
Air Peace is already pursuing landing rights for scheduled operations into Toronto, Canada, and New York, United States, while plans are at an advanced stage to resume services to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Guangzhou, China.
The airline is also preparing to commence three weekly flights to Manchester in the United Kingdom as it broadens its footprint across Africa, Europe, North America, the Middle East, the Caribbean and South America.
In a further boost to its regional presence, Air Peace recently announced plans to begin operations to Libreville in Gabon, Conakry in Guinea, Bamako in Mali and Douala in Cameroon from August 1.
The Brazilian approval, contained in ANAC Ordinance No. 19.449/2026, is expected to strengthen trade, tourism and cultural exchanges between Nigeria and Brazil.
Industry observers say the direct route could slash travel time between both countries from nearly two days, often involving multiple stopovers, to about seven hours.
The airline’s expanding international network already covers London in the United Kingdom, Barbados in the Caribbean, and key West African cities including Accra, Freetown, Dakar, Banjul, Monrovia and Abidjan.
Beyond passenger travel, the new route is expected to boost cargo movement and deepen economic cooperation between Nigeria, Brazil and the wider South American region.
With Brazil now added to its growing list of international destinations and several strategic routes on the horizon, Air Peace appears determined to cement its position as Nigeria’s leading airline while pursuing its ambition of becoming one of Africa’s most respected global aviation brands.
