It was jubilation galore in Anaocha Local Government Secretariat Complex, Neni in
Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra state following commissioning of a solar-powered borehole by Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon. Romanus Ibekwe at the Anaocha Local Government Secretariat Complex, Neni.
The giant stride brought to an end more than a decade of water scarcity at the council headquarters.
CoreTruth gathered that for over ten years, the Anaocha Local Government Secretariat operated without a functional water supply, creating enormous challenges for council staff and members of the public who visit the Secretariat daily.
The newly commissioned solar-powered borehole now provides a reliable and sustainable source of clean water, significantly improving the working environment and enhancing service delivery.
Residents and staff of the Local Government Secretariat welcomed the project with excitement, describing it as a long-awaited intervention after more than ten years without a reliable water supply.
They commended the LG boss for addressing critical challenge that had affected daily activities within the Secretariat.
According to them, the commissioning of the solar-powered borehole is another demonstration of Hon. Romanus Ibekwe’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy through practical and sustainable projects.
“It further underscores his resolve to build a greater Anaocha where development is visible, opportunities abound, and every community experiences the positive impact of good governance,” they added.
Speaking earlier during the commissioning ceremony, Ibekwe described the project as true reflection of his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of the people through the provision of essential infrastructure.
He noted that responsive governance must be measured by projects that directly impact the lives of citizens.
According to the Council boss, since the inception of his administration, deliberate efforts have been made to ensure that clean and potable water is accessible across Anaocha Local Government Area.
He explained that several solar-powered boreholes have been installed at strategic locations in various communities to address water challenges and improve public health.
“The newly commissioned borehole will not only serve residents living around the Local Government Secretariat Complex but will also provide a dependable source of water for council staff, who have endured years of inadequate water supply during working hours.
“Our vision is simple but clear: to build an Anaocha that works for everyone. Through the provision of critical infrastructure and people-oriented projects, we are demonstrating that responsive, committed, and impactful governance is possible at the grassroots,” he added.
The Council boss reaffirmed administration’s commitment to complementing the development agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo by delivering meaningful projects across all sectors of the local government.
He expressed appreciation to the Governor, describing him as an indefatigable and hardworking leader whose visionary leadership, guidance, and support continue to inspire local government administrations to deliver greater efficiency and sustainable development to the people.
