The Solution Fun City in Awka, yesterday, marked one year since it was commissioned for use by the people. The project, conceived, designed, and completed by the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, in his first term, aligns with the administration’s agenda to transform Anambra State from a departure lounge to a destination. Pointing to the number of visitors to the Fun City daily, Soludo said that it underlines the fact that people need a suitable place of relaxation like Solution Fun City.
Commemorating the first anniversary on Sunday, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, who is also the Secretary to the Government of Anambra State, said that the massive project was made possible by the fervency of Governor Soludo’s vision and commitment to realizing it. “When you (Governor Soludo) talked about having somewhere to relax, some of us did not see it,” Mrs. Nnake said. Recounting how well it has been in the last year, she said that it has been a good year made easy by the governor’s support. “This year has been wonderful, and your support has made it easier for us. People are proud of what you did here, Mr. Governor.” She further hinted that the journey to excellence continues. “We are still on the journey, and I can say that Ndi Anambra has not seen anything yet,” Mrs. Nnake concluded.
In his address, the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, said that Fun City is a reflection of his vision and intentional transformation of Anambra State. “It is quite exciting. Today is that milestone. One year of fun like no other at the Solution Fun City, Awka. I remember, a few years ago, this entire place was a swamp, a bush. Today, it is a place for fun,” Governor Soludo said. Speaking on the vision behind the idea, Governor Soludo said that “Anambra is envisioned to move from departure lounge to a destination point. This is one of the things you must have as a destination. There is no other place in Africa you can find what we have here.” According to the Governor, during the yuletide season, Fun City hosted at least ten thousand visitors daily.
Speaking about what the future holds and how Fun City spotlights commitment to a vision, the Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, declared that his administration is just about to get started. “Anambra is on the rise, and Fun City has signaled the magnitude of our intentionality in building a new Anambra. More are in the works. We are not playing,” Soludo assured.
