President, Mothers Union, Province of the Niger, and Diocese of Awka, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Dr. Mrs. Martha Chioma Ibezim has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State to ensure better survival and security of Nigerians.
On Tinubu, Dr. Mrs. Ibezim lamented the disturbing insecurity in different parts of the
country occasioned by senseless kidnapping, banditry, communal conflicts, and other criminal activities, which has
created fear and uncertainty among the people.
She appealed to the federal
government
to hasten the release of kidnapped students and
teachers in Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, Oyo State as they are passing through hellish moments.
Dr.Mrs. Ibezim stated this in her Presidential address during the 40th Awka Diocesan Women Conference ADWOC 2026, and 3rd Diocesan Mothers’ Union Conference at the Church of the Holy Spirit Awka, Anambra State.
Dr. Mrs. Martha Chioma Ibezim known also as
(Nneoma, Mama Awka, Mama Province) aside being the President of Mothers’ Union is also the President of the Women’s Guild, Young Wives Fellowship & Girls’ Guild Province of the Niger & Diocese of Awka further decried the challenging period in Nigeria for families.
She lamented that Nigeria is presently passing through a challenging period of economic hardship, rising hunger,
insecurity, and growing concerns about governance.
Her words: ‘Many families are struggling with the high
cost of living, inflation, unemployment, and the increasing pump price, food and essential
commodities, making survival difficult for ordinary citizens.
“We are calling for a transparent, accountable, and people oriented governance that will address the pressing needs of the nation and restore confidence in
leadership”, she concluded begging God to help Nigeria.
On Anambra State, Dr.Mrs. Ibezim urged Governor Soludo and his team to ensure more inclusive governance, enhancing the safety and security of all
residents.
She begged him to sustaining the momentum of infrastructural and human capital development across
the State, even as she congratulated the Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR and his Deputy, Dr.
Onyekachukwu Ibezim, KSP, on their successful transition into the second tenure.
She further
commended the remarkable achievements they recorded during their first tenure, particularly in
infrastructural development, youth empowerment through skills acquisition, and the promotion
of entrepreneurship among young people as well as the massive employment of
teachers and other key interventions in strengthening the education sector. She asked God to bless Anambra and grant Mr. Governor greater wisdom and grace to effectively pilot the affairs of
Anambra State.
Dr.Mrs. Ibezim appreciated her husband and Archbishop Province of the Niger and Bishop, Diocese of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim PhD JP for his magnanimity and steadfastness in the vineyard of God which yielded in a conducive environment for a successful ADWOC 2026 at CHS Awka Archdeaconry.

· Nneora Felicia Nebeolisa, Mothers’ Union Worker, her Vice-Presidents, Units’ Coordinators and all Mothers’ Union Workers for working tirelessly.
She extended her appreciation to the Vicar CHS Awka and host Archdeacon, CHS Awka Archdeaconry, Venerable Dr. Onyeka Egwuonwu & his wife , who is her Vice-President in charge of CHS Awka Archdeaconry Barr Mrs. Chioma Egwuonu, and other clergymen and Clergy Wives who assisted in the planning as well as the PCC & Women Executive Members of Church of the Holy Spirit, Awka alongside the Chairman 2026 ADWOC Planning Committee, Sir Dr. Chinedu Ilokanuno for all the Sub-Committees Chairmen with their members.
Archbishop Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim PhD in his sermon on Sunday urged women to be organized always and refuse to be scattered in their acts to avoid being distracted.
Archbishop Ibezim referenced the biblical Sampson destroyed by Delila despite all his strength as recorded in the Bible because Delilah was distracted and was uaed by the enemies against his family.
He warned women against exposing yhe secrets of their families to avoid being exposed to mockery before the public, even as he urged them to unite rather than fighting themselves.
For former President of Boy’s Brigade Nigeria, former Judge of Anambra State, Justice CEK Anigbogu, he expressed gratitude to CHS Awka Archdeaconry for finding his wife Lady Chibuogwu Afulenu Anigbogu worthy to be crowned as ADWOC Profile Mother, assuring his family’s continued solidarity to service of God and humanity.
· The Chairperson 2026 ADWOC, Lady Gloria Nkiru Etele (Ada Jesus) and the 2026 ADWOC Local organizing committee chairman, Dr Chinedu N. Ilokanuno KSP praised God for a resounding success of the ADWOC at CHS Awka Archdeaconry describing it as superb.
Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr.Mrs. Nonye Soludo who was the distinguished special guest was represented by Lady Oluchukwu Ibezim, wife of the Deputy Governor who charged women to know that their resilience in the face of numerous challenges brings God’s unfailing grace to action in their families and organizations for a better society, hence they should never relent in marching forward without despair.
The Unique Conference Mothers were Lady Emily Ibezim, Lady Ifeyinwa Ezejeluo , Chief Lady Ifeoma Mbachi and Mrs Helen Nwokolo.
For the CHS Awka Archdeaconry women, the Archdeacon’s wife, Barr. Chioma Egwuonwu led the Conference ladies in a show of happiness, relaxation, steezy and composure outing each day of the conference, ensuring no woman complained of anything while slaying too. The conference ended in praise with guests from far and near including political aspirants like Ven Tochukwu Sagacious Ikezue contesting to represent Anambra Central senatorial zone in the Senate. Archbishop Ibezim gave him his blessings.
The conference was also the 150th anniversary of the Mothers’ Union in Nigeria.
Theme of the 40th Awka Diocesan Women Conference ADWOC was ” I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” Phil:3:14. It started on Thursday 25th June to Sunday 28th June, 2026 attracting over 1000 women of all class and hue.
A guest and conference participant, Nneora Marta Ezeiruaku of St. Nicholas Anglican Church Achalla, Awka North council area, described the ADWOC 2026 as excellently planned and clinically executed to the glory of God as according to her it was harmoniously in tandem with scholars event not locals. She said the fund to support women ministry raised, protocols, kitchen, organization, the convenience, the food, the uniforms and smiling faces, flexing by tje women, and quiet observations by CHS Awka Archdeaconry men, correcting with love , parking lots, and security were all superb and added colour to the overall performance of the conference described as the best so far.
