NMA to confer awards on UNIZIK VC, COOUTH CMD, others in Anambra conference

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Anambra state chapter will on Friday confer special awards on Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state, Prof Ugochukwu Anyaehie and Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Dr Maureen Umeakuewulu.

The immediate Past Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Prof Ogochukwu Ezejiofor would also be honored by the body during its 2026 Annual General Meeting, Scientific Conference & 6th Emeritus Professor Festus Aghagbo Nwako Memorial Lecture.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr. Princeston Okam and Publicity Secretary, Dr Ahoma Mbanuzuru, the association said the conference themed, “The future Of Medicine In Nigeria: Doctors As System Architects; Innovation, Workforce Sustainability And Universal Health Survival” is scheduled for July 17, 2026 in Nnewi, the industrial city of the state.

“It also has a Sub-Theme: Medicine Under Pressure: Insecurity, Violence Against Healthcare Workers, Workforce Migration And Struggle For Healthcare Survival.

“The conference to be chaired by Prof Alexander Nwofor is for all Doctors, Medical Students, Researchers, Healthcare Professionals and Stakeholders,” the statement added.
