The Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers, a division of Nigerian Society of Engineers has inaugurated Engr Bethram Nwajagu as its 4th Anambra State Chapter Chairman.
The investiture ceremony took place in Awka, where immediate past Chairman, Engr Finbarr Ajegwu, administered the oath of office to the newly inagurated Chairman.
In his inaugural address, Nwajagu pledged to consolidate the achievements of previous administration while strengthening the institution’s role in advancing safety issues and management.
He assured that his administration would sustain existing initiatives and improve them through innovation, collaboration and effective leadership.
Nwajagu, identified strategic safety commission and partnerships, greater visibility and development of budding professionals as key objectives.
“We will work towards having a safety commission, synergise with key government parastatals and to champion safety first which is the bedrock of engineering”
National Chairman of the Institution, Engr Monday Abadum urged members to work closely with the new leadership to achieve sustainable progress and strengthen the institution.
Abadum, represented by National Vice Chairman of the Institution, Engr Francis Itafo appealed for continued support for the executive through dedication, and unwavering commitment to its shared vision of prioritizing safety.
The event featured awards and paper presentations on the theme “Advancing Public Safety, Collaborative Governance Between Engineers and Regulators” by Dr David Onuoha and Bartholomew Nweke.
