His Royal Majesty, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu (Ezeoranyelu Ojoto) has blessed the Ojoto Akanasato Women Wing, tasking the new leadership to pursue peace, unity and the development of Ojoto community.
The royal blessing and prayers were given on August 22, 2026 during the inauguration ceremony of the new executive of the Women Wing(Inyom Ojoto) held at Ndiabor hall, Ojoto.
Igwe Mbamalu in his remarks urged the new executives to be instruments of peace and reconciliation, and to work in harmony with the traditional institution and the Ojoto Akanasato Town Union for the progress of Ojoto.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Mrs Esther Onyekesi, also inaugurated Engr. Dr. Francisca Unoma Nwafulugo, FNSE, FNSChE, LKSC, JP, (Ugosimba Nneoma Ojoto)and other newly elected officials as leaders of the Ojoto Akanasato women wing .
Inaugurating the new Exco, the Commissioner who was represented by a H.O.D, Mrs Benice Uchend flanked by President of Anambra State Town Union Council ASTUC Women Wing, Mrs Blessing Onuigwe and Women Development Officer WDO Idemili South LGA, Lady Oby Nwosu advised them to follow the constitution of the Union without fear or favor saying that the Ministry was ready to assist whenever necessary.
In her acceptance speech, Engr. Dr. Nwafulugo thanked His Royal Majesty, the Commissioner, and members of the community for the confidence reposed in her. She pledged to provide purposeful leadership focused on unity, education, skills acquisition, women empowerment, and community development.
The incoming President General of the Ojoto Akanasato Women Wing who was also the immediate past Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko described the appointment as “a call to service” and pledging to lead with integrity, fairness, transparency and commitment.
According to Eng. Dr. Nwafulugo, my vision is to build a united, empowered, educated, economically strong, and socially responsible Ojoto Akanasato Women Wing that contributes meaningfully to the sustainable development of Ojoto.
“I envision a wing where every woman has a voice, every girl has access to learning, every vulnerable woman receives support, and every woman seeking economic independence receives practical assistance.
“Under my administration, priority will be placed on promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among women across all villages and sections of Ojoto. Education will also receive serious attention through the proposed Ojoto Women Education and Scholarship Programme for indigent students, especially girls. Career guidance, mentoring and educational seminars will be introduced, leveraging the expertise of Ojoto professionals and entrepreneurs to groom the next generation.
Dr. Nwafulugo pledged transparency and accountability in the management of resources and implementation of programmes. She called for strong partnerships with government agencies, corporate organizations, development partners and sons and daughters of Ojoto at home and abroad to support well-defined, accountable projects. She urged all women to contribute ideas, prayers and active participation to ensure the success of the administration.
Moreso, the outgoing President General, Hon Mrs Anthonia Okonkwo who among other achievements built two mega Cassava processing plants for Ojoto uno and Ojoto Oboofia women handed over all documents in her possession including over a million naira in the Ojoto Akanasato Women’s Union account. She pledged to keep assisting the incoming Exco anytime they beckon on her.
The newly inaugurated elected Ojoto Akanasato Women Exco include Engr. Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo – President General, Lady Dora Esimoneze – Vice President, Mrs. Ijeoma Onwuegbuna – Secretary, Mrs. Ubah Chinyere Ejikeme – Asst Sec., Mrs. Jovita Anichebe – Fin Sec, Mrs. Chioma Ndulue – Treasurer, Mrs. Celina Ubah – PRO, Mrs Oluchi Nnoli, Mrs Patience Okoye and Mrs Anulika Anosa are Provosts.
Other Dignitaries present include the Deputy Mayor of Idemili South, Hon Ifeanyi Anakuba ,President General of Ojoto Akanasato Town Union, High Chief Barr. Ernest Obunadike (Ichie Ezieke) ably represented by Chief Paul Agbafuna (Igede Ojoto), High Chief Romanus Anyisia (Ichie Obododike)Rev Fr. Thaddeus Ilechukwu Egwuumumuo. They all advised the incoming Exco to follow the footsteps of the outgoing PG who positively impacted the lives of Ojoto Akanasato Women during her tenure.
