The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), has presented Certificates of Return to newly elected Mayors, Deputy Mayors, and councillors
The Idemili South Mayor -Elect, Hon Oluchukwu Ilogbenu (Olutek) and other 20 LG Mayors, Deputies and Councillors received their certificate at Awka on September 1, 2026 after their victory in the just-concluded Local Government Elections held on Saturday, 29th August 2026.
According to results announced by ANSIEC, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) secured all 21 chairmanship seats and 364 councillorship positions.
The presentation was made by the ANSIEC Chairman, Mrs Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe.
Speaking to journalists, the Chairperson commended the electoral process, assuring more improvement in subsequent elections.
Mrs Osakwe also urged the newly elected officials to prioritise development and good governance in their respective localities.
The presentation ceremony also witnessed the presence of election observers, security agencies and the media.
Moreso, Idemili South Mayor -Elect, Hon Oluchukwu Ilogbenu express his profound gratitude to His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR (Oluatuegwu), for providing the leadership that ensured a seamless and credible electoral process across the State.

Beyond being a formal document, the Certificate of Return represents the mandate, confidence and trust that the good people of Idemili South Local Government Area have placed in us to serve them.
I sincerely appreciate the Commission for its role in conducting the electoral process and for formally validating the outcome of the election.
To the good people of Idemili South, this mandate belongs to you. I remain deeply grateful for your trust and overwhelming support. Your mandate is a sacred responsibility, and I will continue to approach it with humility and commitment to the development of our communities.
As we prepare to begin this new chapter, our focus remains to continue and consolidate upon the progress already made in Idemili South.Indeed, Idemili South is rising from the grassroots to greatness.
