The training, held at the Upstairs Hall, Imo Obi, Ezechima Square, Awka Road, Onitsha, focuses on modern methods of electrical installation and maintenance, with the aim of equipping participants with practical and marketable skill.

Speaking at the opening of the programme, the Director of Nano Science, Directorate of Science Infrastructure, Dr. Chika Ezeanyanaso, said the initiative was designed to empower youths with skills that could promote self-reliance and economic inclusion.

The EVC/CEO of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, urged the participants to take the training seriously, work hard and make the most of the opportunity. He said the beneficiaries would receive starter kits at the end of the programme to support them in starting their own businesses.

The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and NASENI for bringing the skills acquisition programme to Onitsha, describing it as a pathway to science, technology and innovation at the grassroots.

Achebe encouraged the youths to embrace the opportunity and become self-employed, noting that not everyone can depend on white-collar jobs.
