Wife of the President, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu arrived in Anambra State on Thursday for a one-day working visit to inaugurate key development projects and empowerment programmes.
The First Lady touched down at 11:31a.m. at the tarmac of the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri.
Her arrival was met with a warm
reception, including a traditional dance performance by a cultural troupe and political party faithful.
Welcoming the First Lady were several dignitaries, including Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, his Wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, his Deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim and his wife; members of the House of Assembly; top dignitaries from the state, among others.
Meanwhile, no fewer than 500 Security operatives have cordoned Dr Alex Ekwueme square in Awka, waiting for the arrival of the first Lady.
At the Dr Ekwueme square, materials for the empowerment have been displayed, including sewing machines, fridges, cooking gas among others.
Security operatives are all stationed at strategic entry points down to the square with residents flooding the arena with tags.
Government officials, including the Secretary to the state government,SSG, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, are all seen walking around in making sure everything is put in proper places before Senator Tinubu’s arrival.
Mrs Tinubu during the visit would launch the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East zone in Anambra and flag-off of statewide empowerment programme where over 5000 widows and less privileged individuals in the state would be equipped.
She is also expected to commission the TETFund-sponsored ICT Experience Centre project under the auspices of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
