The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Development and Investment Corporation (ADIC), Mr. Nwabunwanne Okonkwo, has said that the Anambra State Government is deliberate about positioning ADIC as a professionally managed, commercially viable and private sector driven institution capable of mobilising capital and unlocking the value of the State’s strategic assets and opportunities.
Speaking at the Lighthouse office of ADIC, Mr. Okonkwo said ADIC’s mandate goes beyond investment promotion, focusing on identifying bankable opportunities, structuring investments, mobilising capital and deploying resources into strategic projects and businesses that deliver both commercial returns and development impact.
“ADIC is not merely another government agency. The intention is to build a professionally managed investment institution that can mobilise private capital, participate in commercially viable projects, unlock the value of the State’s assets and create sustainable economic value for Anambra State,” he said.
He explained that ADIC would work with private and institutional investors, development finance institutions and strategic partners through structures including direct investments, joint ventures, SPVs and project finance.
“Our responsibility is to take opportunities from concept to investable and bankable propositions, giving investors clarity on the opportunity, risks, returns, governance and protections,” he added.
Mr. Okonkwo also highlighted ADIC’s role in creating credible and structured channels for Anambra’s diaspora to invest in the State, noting that investors want clarity, proper structures, governance, protection and reporting. He encouraged prospective investors to engage ADIC through www.adic.ng.
Clarifying the relationship between ADIC and the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), he said while ANSIPPA focuses on investment promotion and facilitation, ADIC focuses on investment structuring, capital mobilisation and deployment into bankable projects and strategic assets.
Nwabunwanne said professionalism, transparency, strong governance, investment discipline and accountability would remain central to ADIC’s operations.
“The Government is focused on using ADIC to set a benchmark that a State-backed investment institution can be run professionally, transparently and commercially while delivering measurable development impact. Our success will ultimately be measured by the capital we mobilise, the investments we make, the value we create and the economic impact we deliver for the people of Anambra State,” he concluded.
