Ugwuagba-Obosi Community Landlords Association has urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Mayor of Idemili North Local Government Area, Chief Stanley Nkwoka and the President General of Obosi Community, Barrister Chimezie Obi to allow the duly elected chairman of the association, Chief Bartholomew Okwuosa and his executive to assume office.

The association made the appeal when they staged a peaceful protest at the Old Government House in Awka with placards bearing varying inscription.

Some of the inscriptions read “The President General of Obosi is conspiring with the Mayor of Idemili North to destabilise Ugwuagba community for selfish interest”, “The Government should come to our aid and give Ugwuagba their mandate”, “Election of Ugwuagba was free and fair”.

Speaking to journalists, Chairman of Ugwuagba Community Landlords Association, Obosi, Chief Okwuosa alleged that Idemili North Local Government Area Chairman, Chief Nkwoka had refused to allow him assume office claiming the election was not conducted by his office.

“Since I won the chairmanship election of the association conducted peacefully on September 30, 2026 by the President General of Obosi Community, Barrister Obi and monitored by a delegation from the Ministry Of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, the Mayor has refused to let him assume office on the ground that the election was not conducted by his office.

“Four days after the conduct of the election held at the association’s hall in Ugwuagba, Chief Nkwoka cancelled it because it was not conducted by the local government.

“I wonder why he should cancel an election approved and monitored by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.

“I urge Anambra State Government to come to our aid,” he said.

Some members of the Association, Chinedu Ezeike and Comrade Ekene Mbaeyi corroborated the story and urged the state government’s immediate intervention.

Reacting, Commissioner for Local Government Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Barr Vin Ezeaka assured that the leadership crisis in the Ugwuagba-Obosi Landlords Association will be resolved.

He however disclosed that he has not received any official notice that the election of the executive of Ugwuagba-Obosi Landlords Association has been cancelled by anybody, saying was not in Nkwoka’s place to cancel the election.

President General of Obosi, Barr Obi applied to the Ministry for approval to conduct the election after the tenure of the past administration had elapsed which was granted by the Ministry in accordance with agreed modalities and provisions of the Association’s constitution,” he said.

Ezeaka maintained that he has not received any report of electoral malpractice from Barrister Obi for which the election should be cancelled by his Ministry that has the right to do so, assuring that the matter will be resolved.
