Anambra-born Junior Ezeonu has been elected to the Texas House of Representatives for District 101.
The 27-year-old defeated 54-year-old Chris Turner to secure the seat, unseating the 16-year incumbent to become the Representative-elect for District 101, covering parts of Arlington, Grand Prairie, and Mansfield.
Ezeonu was born in Onitsha, Anambra State, and moved to Texas at the age of two. He was elected to the Grand Prairie City Council in 2021 and later became the city’s youngest Mayor Pro Tem.
He was the only candidate on the November general election ballot after no Republican opponent entered the race.
Ezeonu attended Bryant Elementary School, Barnett Junior High, and Bowie High School, before graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Political Science. Elected to the City Council at 22, he became the youngest elected member in the city’s history.
At 27, he will be the youngest member of the Texas Legislature.
