Billionaire Business Mogul and industrislislist par excellence, Sir Malinson Ukatu is in a celebration mood as he clocks 3 score years on earth.
At just 60, his name keeps reverberating everywhere, making one think he has been around for donkey years.
It is indisputable that he has paid his dues in industry and has built a massive business empire. Sir Malinson Ukatu should always be at the highest hierarchy of people who should actually go by the name Industrialist.
He has quietly positioned himself as one of the biggest players in building materials business in Nigeria. In fact, he plays in every facet of building from trading of hard board to rod ,roofing sheets,aluminum profiles, plywood , plastics ,homecare products – everything a person needed to own a house. He is equally into real estate.
The climax of his wizardry in building is the ultramodern Nispo Porcelain company Ltd he built for the production of tiles.
He is the first Nigerian to fully and wholly own an indigenous company that produces ceramic tiles.
A visionary, Sir Ukatu, is always ahead of time. He moved to lagos when his mates were almost relaxing and getting comfortable in onitsha.
When they were acclimatizing with trading, he left the stage for industry, and since then, he is unstoppable.
At all times, he is moving from one sector to the other, spreading his tentacles. If their is one igbo man who has played in almost all the sectors of the economy, that is Malinson. From trade, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, mining, real estate, agriculture, banking, events ,hospitality, and what have you.
Yet, in all these,he appears too simple for his achievements and the wealth he has amassed.
That is why he is respected among the circle of successful Anambrarians.
Ukatu was born on May 8, 1964, in Onitsha. He is a bold entrepreneur and very passionate about the growth and the diversification of the Nigerian economy.
He holds a degree in philosophy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and He also has completed several certificate programs in strategic management and entrepreneur management from Lagos Business School. Stanford graduates business school.
He is a fellow of the Rotary Club International, a Chairman Non metallic of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, (MAN) a member of the Certified Institute of Cost Management of Nigeria (CICM), and a certified member of the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria.
Ukatu started as a trader with the name Mallinson & Partners Ltd. His ‘entrepreneurship’ spirit pushed him through to become a director in numerous companies, including Cowry Assets and Management coy, Urban Space Services Ltd, and Alor Microfinance Bank Limited.
He is the chairman of Mallinson Group of Companies and pharmaceuticals and plastics manufacturing firms.
He has been honored as Anambra Businessman/ Industrialist of the year, SUN industrialist/entrepreneur of the year, as well as Silverbird Entrepreneur of the Year..
