Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has marked the fence of the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia for demolition to make way for the dualization of the Amawbia-Agulu-Nanka-Ekwulobia-Uga Road.
This move underscores the governor’s commitment to transparency and uprightness in the face of development.
The Anambra State Government had earlier warned property owners whose structures were marked for demolition to remove the obstructions before the government commences demolition.
With the approval of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), the stage is set for the dualization of the critical road, which connects Awka, the state capital, to Imo State.
The project, expected to be completed within 12 months, aims to reduce travel time between Owerri and Awka by over 70%.
The dualization is part of Governor Soludo’s urban regeneration plan, which includes the development of clean and green cities, dualization of major roads, and connection of major cities with railway systems in Anambra.
By marking the Governor’s Lodge fence for demolition, Soludo has demonstrated his resolve to lead by example, ensuring that no individual or structure is exempted from the necessary sacrifices required for the greater good of the state.
