The Proprietor and Founder of St. Michael Global Crèche School, High Chief Ifeanyichukwu Enendu, has revealed that his decision to establish the school in Umuoshi Village, Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was driven by his deep love for his community and his desire to bring development closer to home.
Barrister Ifeanyichukwu Enendu, a Lagos-based legal practitioner, said his passion for community development and education motivated him to set up the school to nurture the potential of young children, making them valuable to society while also creating employment opportunities for local residents.
It is worth noting that Alor is the hometown of Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige, a former Governor of Anambra State and immediate past Minister of Labour and Productivity.
Speaking to journalists during the 2025 Annual Graduation Ceremony held last Sunday at the school premises in Umuoshi Village, Enendu disclosed that St. Michael Global Crèche School, which he founded nine years ago, has witnessed significant growth in both academic standards and student enrollment.
According to him, the school has made steady progress, reaching a higher level of academic excellence that now enables it to provide quality early childhood education to both indigenes and non-indigenes within the community.
He proudly noted that the school has earned a reputation as one of the leading institutions for early childhood education in Alor and the wider Idemili South Local Government Area.
Enendu acknowledged that running the school single-handedly has not been without its challenges. He emphasized the financial strain involved in ensuring timely payment of staff salaries and the continuous provision of logistics and infrastructure necessary for the smooth administration and growth of the school.
Despite the difficulties, he reaffirmed his commitment to delivering quality education, stressing that the school boasts of qualified teaching and non-teaching personnel, as well as modern amenities designed to support a conducive learning environment.
When asked about government support, he frankly stated that he has never received any assistance from either the local or state government.
“I want to use this opportunity to call on the government to support us. The state should begin to partner with private investors in education to help develop learning infrastructures. My school needs support,financial, material, or otherwise,” he appealed.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Mrs. Juliet Nwankwo, a retired Director of Schools and the current Headmistress of St. Michael Global Crèche School, stated that the institution was founded with a clear mission to eradicate illiteracy, instill moral values, and empower children to stand proud and confident in any area of life.
She stated that the school is not driven by competition or prestige but by a sincere commitment to shaping young minds capable of contributing meaningfully to society.
According to her, the school’s long-term aspiration is to become a beacon of educational excellence, not only in Anambra State but across Nigeria.
Commenting on the school’s standard of education shortly after the ceremony, several dignitaries and parents,Pastor Anazodo Obinna Emmanuel of Christ Holy Church Odozi Obodo Alor, Rev. Engr. Ifeanyi Okeke (Chaplain of Alor Girls Secondary School), and Hon. Ebuka Igwe (Member representing Idemili South in the Anambra State House of Assembly) all commended the school for its outstanding academic and moral standards.
They praised the proprietor, staff, and management for their dedication and called on the Anambra State Government to extend support to the institution.
In his remarks, Hon. Ebuka Igwe pledged to partner with the school by initiating a scholarship program for its pupils. He also assured the school management that he would work to secure support from the state government.
Also speaking, Chief Chimezie Ukatu (Vice Chairman, Anambra Development Union), Chief Obi Ken Nwibe (President, Umuokwu General Assembly), and Chief Anayochukwu Onunkwo (a member of the Igwe of Alor’s cabinet) lauded the proprietor and school management for significantly raising educational standards in the community. Each of them awarded personal scholarships to outstanding pupils as a gesture of support and encouragement.
Highlights of the colorful event included drama performances, musical renditions, match-past displays, cultural dances, calisthenics, and more, all staged by the pupils to the delight of parents and invited guests.
