Inductees of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), have been urged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics of Nigeria’s banking industry.

The Chairman, Board of Directors, Keystone Bank Nigeria, Lady (Dr.) Ada Chukwudozie, gave the charge during the 2025 CIBN chartered banker induction and prize awards day held at Ijewere Hall Bankers House Victoria Island Lagos.

Lady Chukwudozie, who doubles as the Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Southeast zone, also urged them to embrace lifelong learning, and treat every customer with fairness and respect, avoiding shortcuts and misconduct, as well as resist the temptations of quick gains.

While noting that the profession is both demanding and rewarding, she enjoined the inductees to stay true to its values, to enable them not only succeed, but to also help shape the future of banking in Nigeria.

“Esteemed inductees, your presence here today is evidence of your resilience, discipline, and determination. You have worked hard to reach this milestone and deserve every bit of the recognition you are receiving. But let me also remind you, this moment is not the destination but the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning and service,” Lady Chukwudozie said.

“As you move forward, remember that your certificate is not just a document but a responsibility. It is a call to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics. It is an invitation to prove, day after day, that trust is the real currency of banking.

“Keep in mind, banking is not only about figures or profit. It is about people. It is about enabling small businesses to grow, helping families achieve their dreams and ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind in accessing financial services.”

Speaking on the theme: “The Smart Banker’s Compass: Innovate, Adapt and Solve Like a Pro,” Lady Chukwudozie argued that “the banker of the future must innovate, must adapt, and above all, must remain ethical.”

While noting the importance of technology in banking, she maintained that only integrity sustains confidence, arguing that “Profit without integrity is destructive and progress without trust is unsustainable.”

She commended the leadership of CIBN for their dedication in raising the standards of the profession while appreciating families and institutions that have supported the inductees.
