An Anambra-based entrepreneur, Dr Frank Igbojindu has made commitment of N12 million naira to support education in Anambra state.

The commitment was made through his Akpoazaa Foundation which has been at the forefront of promotion of academic programs in Anambra and the South-East.

The Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to educational advancement in Anambra State with an intervention valued at over ₦12 million, anchored on its guiding philosophy, Education or Nothing.

Central to the initiative is a ₦1 million endowment fund jointly dedicated to rewarding the Best Graduating Students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. The fund is structured to recognize and celebrate academic distinction in both institutions.

The endowment programme at Nnamdi Azikiwe University was first instituted in 2025 and has now been renewed for the current academic session, sustaining its objective of promoting academic excellence. The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University component of the endowment was formally established this year, expanding the Foundation’s recognition framework to another major state institution.

Vice Chancellors of both universities Prof Bond Anyaehie and Prof Kate Omenugha commended the Akpoazaa Foundation for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful in strengthening a culture of excellence and rewarding merit within the academic community.

In addition to the academic endowment, the Foundation donated two 500-capacity tents valued at ₦5 million each — amounting to ₦10 million — to support convocation ceremonies and other major institutional events. University officials noted that the donation would significantly enhance logistics and event organization during large academic gatherings.

Further extending its educational support to the grassroots, the Foundation approved ₦1 million for the sponsorship of 100 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent but deserving students across Anambra State. The intervention aims to eliminate financial barriers that prevent qualified candidates from sitting for the national tertiary entrance examination.

Speaking on the development, the Founder of Akpoazaa Foundation and Convener of the Education or Nothing movement, Dr. Frank Igbojindu, emphasized that sustainable development begins with deliberate investment in education.

An alumnus of Nnamdi Azikiwe University — where he earned his Diploma, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees, Dr. Igbojindu described the initiative as both a strategic intervention and a personal commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped his academic journey.

Beyond tertiary education support, the Foundation has also executed community-based development projects, including the construction and donation of a solar-powered borehole to its host community. Several skill acquisition programmes and youth-focused educational empowerment initiatives are also in the pipeline.

Education stakeholders have described the ₦12 million-plus intervention as a strong example of responsible private-sector participation in educational development.

With this renewed commitment, the Akpoazaa Foundation continues to position itself as a strategic partner in promoting academic excellence, youth empowerment, and sustainable community development in Anambra State and beyond.
