The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has announced plans to hold two convocation ceremonies in 2026, with the first scheduled for June and another tentatively fixed for November.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, disclosed this during the institution’s 242nd Senate meeting held on February 25, 2026, at the Zephaniah Madubuko Auditorium, Faculty of Social Sciences, Awka.

According to him, the 20th Convocation Ceremony of the university will take place from Wednesday, June 17 to Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Prof. Anyaehie explained that the four-day programme would provide an opportunity for graduates of the 2024/2025 academic session to receive their certificates.

The ceremony will also feature the conferment of honorary degrees and the bestowal of Emeritus Professorial titles on distinguished scholars.

The Vice-Chancellor further hinted that the university might hold another convocation ceremony before the end of the year, tentatively scheduled for November 2026.

He noted that the proposed November ceremony would coincide with the birthday anniversary of the university’s namesake, Nnamdi Azikiwe, popularly known as “Zik of Africa.”

Prof. Anyaehie, the seventh substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution, assured that the welfare of both students and staff would remain a top priority throughout his five-year administration.

He reaffirmed the management’s commitment to policies and initiatives aimed at improving the academic environment and overall well-being of members of the university community.
