The proposed refinery project in Ogbaru has been identified as a major component of the industrialization strategy of Chukwuma Soludo, as stakeholders reaffirm commitment to large-scale economic transformation in Anambra State.

The development was highlighted during a town hall meeting held on March 28, 2026, involving stakeholders from Obeagwe and Ossomala communities in Ogbaru. Discussions focused on plans to establish a modular refinery in the area as part of broader efforts to boost industrial growth and attract investment.

Speaking at the event, Ibemeka noted that the refinery project aligns with the state government’s vision of transforming Anambra into a leading industrial hub. He stated that the initiative is expected to stimulate economic activities, create employment opportunities, and enhance infrastructure development within host communities.

Participants at the meeting expressed support for the project, describing it as a strategic move to unlock the economic potential of Ogbaru, a riverine area with increasing industrial prospects. The location is seen as critical for expansion due to its access to key transport routes and ongoing commercial activities.

The refinery plan forms part of the administration’s wider agenda to reposition Anambra as a major player in Nigeria’s industrial sector through targeted investments and infrastructure development.
