The frontrunner aspirant for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Chief (Hon) Ikenna Iyiegbu, has pledged a new era of active and people-focused representation.
Hon. Iyiegbu stated this on Monday shortly after submitting his expression of interest forms for House of Representatives ticket at APGA National Secretariat in Abuja,
Chief Iyiegbu, widely known as Ike Cubana (Onyechimelu’eze) is a grassroot politician and seasoned campaigner having served as the Director General of the Soludo/Ibezim re-election Campaign team in Idemili South.
He is contesting on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA.
Speaking with journalists shortly after completing the process, Iyiegbu outlined a vision anchored on capacity, service, and measurable impact, positioning himself as a candidate ready to move beyond rhetoric to results.
According to him, his entry into the race is driven by a desire to effect meaningful change and improve the lives of people across the constituency.
“Capacity is what we check. What are we trying to do? Make a difference,” he said, emphasising the importance of competence and commitment in leadership.
Iyiegbu stressed that his political journey is rooted in a long-standing passion for community development and empowerment, noting that he is bringing both experience and resources to the table.
“Come there, bring that capacity, bring that knowledge, bring that know-how. The status quo can’t continue the way it is,” he stated.
“There are people that are serious, trying to make an impact in their communities. That is the reason why I’m here—to make an impact, to make a change,” he added.
He described his mission as one focused on transformation, particularly in critical areas that directly affect the people.
Running under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Iyiegbu’s campaign is centered on infrastructure development, Human capitaldevelopment, and improved access to quality healthcare and education.
He emphasised that his approach would prioritize inclusive development, leveraging his personal networks and experience to attract opportunities and investments to the constituency.
Iyiegbu also signaled his readiness to play an active legislative role at the national level.
“I’m going into politics to play my role and ensure my people are well represented,” he said.
“We are here to make a difference,” he reiterated.
Hon Iyiegbu’s agenda focuses on infrastructure development, youth/women empowerment, and enhanced healthcare/education, aiming to bring inclusive representation to the constituency.
Key Aspects of agenda: Known as ‘Onyechimelu’eze,’ he has begun intensive consultations and holds widespread support, recently visiting community leaders in Idemili North and South.
Political observers believe that Hon. Ikenna Iyiegbu (Ike Cubana) is a frontrunner for the APGA Idemili House of Representatives race as he has been actively meeting with APGA stakeholders, ward executives and APGA faithfuls in Idemili North and South to gain the party ticket.
His campaign focuses on restoring the “lost glory” of the constituency and providing effective representation.
