The Agunaechemba State Security personnel have been warned against wearing masks henceforth while on duty or under any guise, except with the clearance of the state authority for covert or special missions with justified reasons.

Speaking with Agunaechemba commanders from the 179 communities, the 21 local government areas, and State Unit Commanders in Anambra State, including other state officials and leaders at a routine meeting in Awka, the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, explained that the directive against the use of masks takes immediate effect and is necessary to prevent such acts from being hijacked for criminal purposes, while also ensuring public confidence and protection in the security outfit, adding that offenders will be immediately arrested and disciplined.

Mr. Emeakayi further warned against the setting up of checkpoints on roads by Agunaechemba security personnel except when strictly necessary for security purposes, noting that checkpoints must target criminals and not motorists or other road users, and therefore should not be mounted on a particular road or route at all times.

He also emphasized that drug dealers must be decisively dealt with in all nooks and crannies of Anambra State, challenging commanders to adopt intelligence-led approaches in tackling the menace, while stressing the need for synergy and effective communication on operational issues and challenges among different units of the organization.

Mr. Emeakayi emphasized that the state government is not relenting in securing the state, revealing that the security model for Anambra State is bottom-to-top, ensuring that communities remain safe, while assuring that the interface will be continuous, including the monitoring of their operations and feedback mechanisms.
