The National Boundary Commission has pledged to expedite efforts to resolve the Anambra-Abia interstate boundary dispute, which has remained unresolved for over twenty years.

Speaking during a joint meeting on the dispute in Awka, the Director-General of the National Boundary Commission, Mr. Adamu Adaji, disclosed that both states had already reached agreement on fifteen kilometres of the twenty-three-kilometre boundary in contention, with work ongoing to settle the outstanding issues on the remaining eight kilometres. He urged both states to embrace peace, saying peaceful coexistence would drive development in the affected communities.

Adaji expressed regret that the dispute had dragged on for so long and assured that the commission would thoroughly examine all relevant documents relating to the contested boundary in pursuit of a lasting resolution.
