The Federal and Anambra State Governments are set to host the first-ever Made-in-Nigeria trade fair in Awka from December 2 to 5, 2026.
The event, tagged “Christmas Market,” will be held at Solution Fun City, Awka, as part of efforts to promote locally made products and strengthen economic opportunities for Nigerian businesses.
The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, disclosed the development when she received a delegation from the Made-in-Nigeria Project Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, at the Light House in Awka.
Nnake said the initiative aligns with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, whom she described as a strong advocate for locally produced goods and a major promoter of Made-in-Anambra products.
She explained that the trade fair would provide an opportunity to showcase products manufactured in Anambra to a wider market, including international visitors. She added that the December timing was deliberately chosen to coincide with the state’s Christmas festivities and attract increased patronage during the yuletide season.
The National Coordinator and Executive Director of the Made-in-Nigeria Project Office, Mr George Nwabueze, announced that Governor Soludo would be formally appointed Nigeria’s Made-in-Nigeria Brand Ambassador by the Federal Government during the event.
Nwabueze said the appointment was in recognition of the governor’s personal commitment to promoting locally produced goods and the Made-in-Nigeria initiative.
He disclosed that the trade fair would be organised across different states, beginning with Abia State in September before moving to Anambra in December.
According to him, the fair will feature exclusively Nigerian-made products, in line with the Federal Government’s programme to promote local production and market Nigerian goods to the world.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Commerce, Mr Nonso Ebonwu, urged manufacturers, entrepreneurs and small and medium-scale enterprises across the state to take advantage of the event to showcase their products and expand their markets.
The meeting was followed by a tour of Solution Fun City, the proposed venue for the four-day trade fair.
The organisers said the event is expected to provide a platform for businesses to connect with consumers, promote local manufacturing and strengthen the visibility of Nigerian products during the festive season.
