The Community Women Leader of Oba Community in Idemili South LGA, Anambra State, Adaife Ngozi Onwuka has been re-elected as President General Oba Women Patriotic Union (Inyom Oba).

 

In her Presidential address themed ‘Nyee aka dozie obodo anyi bu Oba’ meaning ‘Help in Rebuilding our community Oba’, Adaife Ngozi Onwuka during the Inyom Oba 2026 August General Meeting called on all sons, daughters and stakeholders of Oba to put aside differences and work together for the collective development of the community.

She expressed gratitude to the women of Oba for renewing their trust in her leadership team. She pledged to consolidate on the gains of her previous tenure by prioritizing women empowerment, girl-child education, health sensitization, and support for vulnerable families.

 

“Development is a collective responsibility. When we unite in purpose and support one another, Oba will continue to grow as the Light of the Nation,”

 

Adaife Onwuka also emphasized the need for peace, discipline, hardwork and active participation of women in politics saying that gone were the days when women stay idle as housewives without generating any form of resources to help out in the family.

 

The newly re-elected Women Leader further appealed to the Traditional Ruler, Igwe Oba, the President General, and other community stakeholders to partner with the women’s wing in executing people-oriented projects. She encouraged women to embrace skills acquisition and small-scale businesses to improve household incomes and reduce poverty.

 

 

Dignitaries at the event commended her leadership style and prayed for wisdom and strength as she begins her new tenure. They pledged to support his litany of projects starting from Education, Business and Medical Empowerment projects.

 

The inauguration ceremony, held in Oba, was attended by traditional ruler, town union executives, youth leaders and women from across the community.

1st VP -Lady Christy Ubadike, 2nd VP- Adaife Chinwe ObiabunmoJP, 3rd VP- Lolo Iyom Ngozi Ibeto, Secretary General- Mrs Glad Anyadiegwu,

1st Asst Sec- Mrs Ngozi Obienu, 2nd Asst Sec -Mrs Chizoba Chibuike,

Fin Sec- Iyom Amaka Igwilo,Treasurer- Mrs Charity Agbanusi,

Auditor 1 -Mrs Nwadiogo Umezulike,

Auditor 2- Mrs Joy Ikwuemesibe,

Provost 1- Mrs Nkoli Ikeogu,

Provost 2- Mrs Virginia Nwabunike.

 

According to Onwuka, After our first tenure of 4 years I and my entire executives were unanimously re-elected on the 20th of August in the presence of delegates from the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare,Lady Benice Uchendu, Ify Ezeoke, Coordinator Anambra Central Senatorial, Iyom Chika Amobi who represented President General of Anambra State Town Union Council ASTUC Women Wing, Hon Blessing Onuigwe.

 

 

“All my executives were returned back to seat because of our achievements.By God’s grace when I assumed seat in 2023 I learnt that students of Oba Women School Ltd do register outside our school for WAEC. I embarked on the process of getting approval for our school from Awka for the Senior Secondary Certificate Exam/WAEC.

 

“They came for inspection and said we lack adequate buildings/ school blocks for secondary school. We started a two storey massive building which we hope to complete in this second tenure. We also opened an independent account for the private school with a commercial bank to facilitate fund transactions.

 

“Another achievement is the procurement of another uniform for Inyom Oba. We opened an account with a commercial bank for the union.

 

“We reformed some things concerning our home and abroad general meeting which makes it more interesting, lively and attractive to Oba women.

 

“We have an empty land of about 5 plots of land with 6 rooms which we need to complete and rent out for commercial purposes and IGR.

 

“We attracted a revolving interest free loan sponsored by Adaeze Social Club. Last year they gave 9 persons loan of 150,000 naira each which have been returned. This year they gave us another loan at 200,000 naira for 10 persons from 10 villages.

 

Adaife Onwuka advised Women, sons and daughters of Oba to embrace the skill acquisition programs sponsored by the Mayor of Idemili South, Hon Mrs Amaka Obi (Iyom Ifeabata) which takes place at Oba Civic center every Sunday by 3pm. The Skills include bakery,tiling, etc for free. Adaeze Social Club also established Sill acquisition programs for those who want to learn fashion design and they will empower the person with start up kits after a year.

 

She advised women to be serious with their parental responsibilities and proper child upbringing. “Some of our children are indulging in various vices but they should retrace their steps and embrace these skill acquisition programs including the ones our Igwe Engr Augustine Emelobe, Eze Okpoko II provided like long distance driving which some youths have completed their training and Igwe has provided jobs for them within and outside the country. To realize the New Oba Development project, there is no room for idleness”.
