The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 57 suspects and rescued three kidnap victims during operations conducted over the past month.
The Command also recovered 18 assorted firearms and 43 rounds of ammunition, while destroying a criminal camp, the Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji Ama, disclosed on Friday.
Ama presented the Command’s operational scorecard during the visit of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 13, Ukpo, Miller Gajere Dantawye.
He said the arrests and recoveries were linked to operations against kidnapping, armed robbery, cult-related violence, murder and other serious crimes.
The Commissioner attributed the results to intelligence gathering, targeted tactical operations and coordinated deployments by the Command’s tactical units, Area Commands and Divisional formations, working with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders.
“These results were made through coordinated intelligence gathering, targeted tactical operations, strategic deployment and sustained pressure on identified criminal networks,” Ama said.
He assured residents that the Command would maintain its operations against criminal groups, with emphasis on intelligence development, aggressive patrols, rapid response and the disruption of criminal hideouts.
Ama directed operational commanders and personnel to remain vigilant and adjust their deployment strategies in response to emerging crime patterns.
He also urged officers to maintain professional and respectful relations with members of the public, stressing the importance of community cooperation in crime prevention.
AIG Commends Anambra Command
Speaking during the visit, AIG Dantawye described the operational results as encouraging and urged officers to build on the gains through discipline, professionalism and strict adherence to the rule of law.
He directed personnel to strengthen intelligence networks, improve community engagement and act promptly on credible information.
The AIG further charged commanders to intensify operations against kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, drug-related offences and other violent crimes.
He stressed that all operations must be conducted professionally, lawfully and with due regard for human rights.
Dantawye also reviewed the Command’s security posture and ongoing operations, commending personnel for their efforts in tackling violent and organised crime in the state.
The visit underscored the commitment of Zone 13 Police leadership and the Anambra Command to intelligence-led policing and coordinated security operations.
