The Government of Anambra State has said that pensioners have no need to come to Awka for their verification exercise, which will commence tomorrow, Monday, October 5, 2026. The ongoing verification exercise, which has been ongoing for about a month now, is part of the statewide identification and validation of every individual in the Anambra State payroll. From tomorrow, pensioners are expected to commence their verification. However, they are not required to come to the State Secretariat in Awka for the exercise.
According to a public service announcement from the Head of Service, Ngozi Iwouno, Esq., the verification exercise of pensioners commences on October 5th and lasts till October 30th, 2026, and the process has been designed to make it convenient for pensioners so that they do not need to come to Awka for the exercise. “To make the process simple, convenient, and cost-effective, the exercise is digital-first. Pensioners do not need to travel to Awka and can complete verification from home using a smartphone or with the help of a trusted relative,” the announcement reads.
Requirements for Online Verification:
National Identification Number (NIN)
Pension ID
Bank Verification Number (BVN)
Phone number registered with the Pensions Office
Smartphone with a working camera
Here is the online verification steps:
Visit the official portal: https://aseps.anambrastate.gov.ng/onboarding/start using Google Chrome.
Enter your NIN, Pension ID, or BVN and click “Find my record”.
Provide the phone number registered with the Pensions Office.
Verify your displayed personal details and answer the work history/pension questions.
Complete the facial photo capture using your phone camera (ensure bright lighting; remove caps and glasses).
Save your generated reference number safely as proof of completion.
However, for those in Awka or others who wish to do the physical verification, here is the process:
Visit the verification Center beside UBA, Secretariat Branch, Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
