Nigeria has over 170 universities including private universities out of which about 3 of them are owned by Ndi Anambra. Some other Anambrarians are in the final stage of obtaining their licenses from the Nigerian University Commission. So far, these are the three Anambra persons, whose universities are operational as at December, 2021. The list as compiled by ANAMBRA PEOPLE;
CHRIS EZEH: is from Igbo Ukwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. He is the former Managing Director of John Holt and former Chairman of Fidelity Bank. He established the Christopher University which is located on a spacious land area of over 100 HECTARES and situated in Mowe, Lagos / Ibadan express way. The university which was approved by the Federal Government on February 25, 2015 began academic operations on March 5, 2015.

SIMON NWAKACHA: hails from Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area. He worked in NNPC for 35 years and retired from the civil service in 2013. He established Greenfield University in Kaduna in January 2019. The school commenced the 2018/19 session in May 2019. The school was attacked by bandits in 2021 and had some of its students kidnapped.

LATE JOHNBOSCO AKAM: who hails from Uga, Aguata Local Government Area was a Roman Catholic priest who rose to the position of a monsignor. He founded Tansian University which is located in Umunya, Anambra State on the 17th Day of May, 2009. The university started in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area as a temporary site, before the permanent site was set up in Umunya. Although, Tansian University is a Private University, the Anambra State government under Governor Peter Obi donated cash and vehicles for its infrastructural upgrade and development.
