As a staunch believer in education and its potentials as a tool for fighting poverty and equally a catalyst for development. For his belief in the future of Anambra state by empowering young people, giving them the opportunity to reach to the star through quiz competitions, scholarships, promotion of science and technology education in our schools and many others, Dr. Chinedu Anthony Umeadi is ANAMBRA PERSON OF THE WEEK

Dr Chinedu Anthony Umeadi is a Nigerian Medical Doctor who hails from Abagana in Njikọka local government of Anambra State.

He is one of the most inspiring Nigerians in the Diaspora and one of the best human capital export of Anambra State, an Anambra gift to the world.

Dr Chinedu is an Adjunct Professor of mental health in the department of Psychiatry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry Western University London, Ontario, Canada. A firm believer in human capital development as he has equally spent substantial part of his life developing himself in diverse areas of human endeavor, that transverses Medicine, Healthcare management, Business management and Leadership.

Umeadi understands that the only route to the development of a third world economy is through human capital development. He believes in the aggressive investment in Education and Healthcare.

He has exemplified this passion by setting up the Dr Chinedu Umeadi Foundation, with the sole aim and purpose of driving investment and commitment in human capital development.

Recently, the Dr Chinedu Umeadi Foundation organized the third edition of its annual science quiz competition in collaboration with the Post Primary School Service Commission (PPSSC) Awka. His vision is to see the emergence of more expertise in Healthcare, Engineering, Data Science and Science education.

Every developing economy needs this quantum of expertise in order to build needed infrastructure that will drive economic growth and lift millions out of poverty.

Dr Umeadi is one of those Nigerian Diasporas who are deploying their vast knowledge, global exposure and material resources to develop their home land. For his kind, the very essence of leaving the shores of mother land is to come back home and bridge the gap of development. He spends a considerable amount of his hard earned resources to invest and mentor young people and wants to replicate himself across Anambra.

Beyond his passion for education and medicine, Dr Chinedu Umeadi is a lover of Igbo culture and traditions of his people. Though he has spent a considerable time across the shores of the country, he never lost touch with his roots. His commitment to his community Abagana endeared him greatly to his people and he was bestowed the prestigious title of Agunaechemba1 of Abagana. To bear such a prestigious title in a community like Abagana that commands a history of very successful men and great personalities is no mean feat.

Today Dr Chinedu Anthony Umeadi (Agunaechemba) is stepping in to the murky waters of politics. He is running to represent the Anambra Central Constituency in the National Assembly.

Though a green horn in politics, there’s no doubt he has paid his dues in public service, politics is simply public service.

Agunaechemba believes that serving as a Senator can only help him do more of the things he has consistently done within his own individual capacity.

The public service truly needs the likes of Dr Umeadi, his quest and passion to develop his people is clear, no doubt he has built up public trust which is the needed catalyst to propel his political ambitions
