OKOLI ASSUMES POSITION AS ANAMBRA’S ACCOUNTANT GENERAL

The newly appointed Accountant General (AG), Anambra State, Dr. Chukwudi Okoli has resumed duty in earnest on Tuesday.

The Anambra born financial guru who was carefully selected by the Gov. Charles Soludo, promised to bring his wealth of experience in his new office.

Okoli, who was a Director of Finance and Accounts at Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, for 21 years began his work by meeting with all the Heads of Accounts of various ministries, departments and agencies, all the sub treasuries under the Office of the Accountant General.

In his speech, Dr. Okoli said that his work policy would be to provide unprecedented quality leadership and his duty would be to follow the law to the letter, urging the heads of various MDAs to put their heads together to create favourable working environment that would enhance due process.

He encouraged the workers to always be punctual and regular to work and to always dress decently.

“Having worked for several years without any bad record of financial mismanagement, I will like to maintain that enviable record by ensuring that funds are used for their allotted purposes,” Okoli said.

The AG urged the Heads of MDAs to always relate their challenges to his office, which in turn, would be forwarded to the governor for immediate solution.

He promised to have a very wonderful team spirit and unity amongst the workers.

Earlier, the former Accountant General, Mr. Hilary Obigwe, in his welcome address, appreciated the former Governor, Willie Obiano for the opportunity given to him to serve as the state’s Accountant General.

Mr Obigwe encouraged the workers to give the new AG the maximum support that would make him to do his best for the progress of Anambra State.

The Head of Accountant General’s Pensions Unit, Mrs. Josephine Ilo, who gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the workers commended the former Accountant General, Mr. Obigwe for his achievements while in office.

Mrs. Ilo promised the new Accountant General that the workers would certainly give him all the necessary support and assistance needed for the smooth running of the office of the Accountant General of Anambra State.
