Monkey pox: Anambra discharges 2 patients.

The Anambra State Government hinted Wednesday that two hospitalized monkey pox patients have been discharged stating that the government was more than ready to tackle monkey pox disease in the State, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports.

Commissioner for Health, Hon. Afam Obidike, gave the hint when the executive members of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State council, paid him a familiarization visit in his office at Awka, State capital.

Obidike who explained that the state government wants to achieve  a healthy environment called on any one with symptoms of the disease  to rush to the nearest hospital adding that government has all it takes to fight the disease.

The Commissioner disclosed that a health summit would be held by September this year aimed at achieving healthy condition for all  in the State.

He stated that to this end Governor Charles Soludo wants all the over 300 health centers in the state to be up and doing even as he said they were using technology to improve the health sector.

According to him, “journalists have a critical role to play in promoting  healthy Anambra state and it is through the media that the people will be kept abreast with government policies in health sector”.

The Commissioner appreciated the chairman of NUJ, Anambra State council, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, and his executive members for deeming it necessary to work with his ministry and for projecting the present administration in a good light.

Earlier in his speech, the NUJ chairman said they came to familiarize with him and extend hands of fellowship to his administration in a quest to build a better Anambra state through positive reportage of government activities, programmes and policies.

Odogwu said they also came to intimate him about NUJ health summit coming up soon and to seek his support and presence at the event as part of Governor Soludo’s plans of having a healthy Anambra state, adding that journalists need to stay healthy to be able to inform, educate and entertain the people.

In her own contribution, the NUJ 2022 Health week committee chairman, comrade Chinyere Fessy Okoye, explained preparations of the council towards the health week and what would be achieved at the end of the day.

She appealed to the commissioner to provide for the council necessary personnel and equipment for the success of the event.
