Mr Lawrence Chukwuweike Ezeudu, the lawmaker representing Dunukofia state constituency in the House of Assembly has said that Anambra state can make N10 billion Internally Generated Revenue every month if Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo introduces what he described as hygiene in the polity, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports.
Ezeudu who stated this at Awka, explained that judging from the Gross Domestic Products of the state, 10 Billion Naira monthly IGR is feasible if hygiene is introduced in all facets of government and governance.
He said hygiene meant accountability, financial prudence, probity, transparency, due process, requisite competence and capacity and rule of law contrary to fraud, mediocrity and nepotism.
He believes that Governor Soludo is putting Anambra state on a good trajectory judging from the indices of development on the ground.
The two-term legislator said that the governor is not a magician as he needs very competent people to work with him to realise his vision of a liveable, loveable and prosperous homeland habitable for all and sundry.
He, therefore, stressed the need for Governor Soludo to synergize with the 8th legislature, the judiciary and also empower the third tier of government by conducting a credible and transparent local government election in order to decentralize political and governmental powers.
Ezeudu maintained that a better Anambra may not be possible without the conduct of local government election.
“The governor must strive to sanitize the polity as well as ensure the enthronement of hygiene in the politics of the state and block all loopholes and leakages in revenue generation so as to upscale the IGR base for government to function optimally”, he concluded.
