The Nigeria 2023 Census Support Group has congratulated His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on his swearing-in as President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In a congratulatory message on the group’s Facebook page, the National Coordinator, Mr. Robinson Erebi, expressed confidence that President Tinubu’s administration would usher in a new era of development and prosperity in Nigeria with accurate data for planning.
“We urge you to prioritize the conduct of the transformational 2023 Census as one of your legacy projects within the first 100 days of your administration,” he said.
Erebi emphasized that Nigerians are eager to know their population size, and a green and digital census would provide credible, accurate, and scientifically verifiable data for governments at all levels to plan and implement economic, social, and infrastructural developments more effectively.
He also acknowledged the significant progress made by the National Population Commission in laying the groundwork to ensure that the 2023 Census succeeds and is implemented according to best practices. This includes the completion of Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD), conduction of two pre-tests and Trial census, trained facilitators for the census, and other preparatory activities that are ongoing.
According to Chairman of the National Population Commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, the Commission has also developed a Census Strategic Plan and Implementation Strategy detailing a whole range of activities to be carried out in the pre-census, actual census, and post-census stages. He said “our vision for the 2023 Census is to produce accurate, reliable, and acceptable census with an all-inclusive user-friendly data”.
The group prayed that God Almighty should bless Mr. President with wisdom and strength to pilot the affairs of this great country through a successful tenure of office.
