After a rapid operation at Uli in Ihiala Local Government Area Anambra State, gunmen who hijacked a car abandoned one of their gang members.
A video making the rounds on social media shows the moment the automobile was taken from its owner, with a suspected gang member rushing after them as they attempted to drive away.
Onlookers were seen in their stores watching the action develop in the footage.
Ihiala, a border village between Anambra and Imo State, is the epicenter of Anambra State’s gunmen attacks. It has recently been devastated by insurgency.
The video’s narrator was overheard saying, “They just stole a car from someone.” This is now taking place in Uli.”
The event occurred on Monday, according to a source.
The source said:
“This happened yesterday (Monday). The men in a bid to make a quick escape, left one of their members behind after snatching a car in Uli, Anambra State.”
He however did not state the fate of the gang member who was abandoned as he could not enter the vehicle as it hastily drove off.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, in his reaction said the command was not aware of the development.
He said: “We call on the originator of this video to reach out to the command for us to know the exact location that happened in Uli as there is no such report before the police in the area.
“We also want to reach out to members of the community to come forward and let us know where such incidents happen in their area. You are encouraged to call 07039194332 for any information in this regard and be assured of the utmost confidentiality of such calls.”
