President Tinubu has appointed two illustrious Anambrians to head important Parastatals for a term of four years. The appointees are Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke as the MD of Standard Organization of Nigeria(SON) and Engr Chukwuemeka Agbasi as the MD of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency(FERMA)
Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke is from Ngene Village Amawbia and has an educational background in accounting, with a Master’s and PhD from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is barely a year in office as the Executive Chairman of the Imo Internal Revenue Service before the appointment. According to his records,he has vast experience in the financial services sector which span banking, insurance etc. Dr Okeke was quoted as saying that his mandate as Imo Revenue boss was to transform the State Internal Revenue Service and make it one of the most reputable tax agencies in Nigeria and within so short a period of time moved Imo State IGR from 700 Million naira to around 2 Billion naira.
Engr Emeka Agbasi is an indigene of Uruagu Nnewi.He attended DMGS Onitsha and holds degrees in civil engineering from both the University of London and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is a certified PRINCE 2 practitioner and APMG certified PPP Professional. Prior to his appointment, he worked as a director and Head of PPP & Asset Management at FERMA, where he pioneered development work on asset management and collaborated with international organizations such as DFID, USAID, ECOWAS, and the World Bank.
Engr Agbasi also has more than 30 years of experience in civil engineering and applied research, specializing in design and construction, structural investigation, and materials testing. He has implemented strategies for repair and maintenance of civil infrastructure and has authored technical reports and papers presented in international conferences.
These appointments highlight President Tinubu’s commitment to promoting individuals from different regions and giving them opportunities to contribute to the development of Nigeria.
