Meet Theresa Onuorah and Pericoma, Parents of Singer, Speed Darlington

Nigerian musician, Speed Darlington has gone viral several times over his comedic and controversial singing technique and vulgar choice of lyrics. In this article, you will discover the biological parents of the internet sensation.

Akpimmuo, as he fondly calls himself was born by veteran musician, Theresa Onuorah and late musician and traditionalist, Pericoma.

Theresa Onuorah is famous for her verse in the song ‘Egedege’ which featured Larry Gaga, Flavour, Phyno and Pete Edochie in 2021. She is a musician, dancer and is popularly referred to as an ezenwanyi, a word meaning traditional priestess in Igbo language.

She hails from Unubi in Nnewi South and was born on January 9, 1942. After her relationship with Pericoma, Mrs Theresa got married to Godwin Igboebisi and they have other children together.

Pericoma, born Damian Azubuike Nwankwo Okoye was a traditionalist and musician. He hails from Okigwe and was born in 1948. Pericoma had children from various women, and was never married to Speed Darlington’s mother.

He died on the 16th of February, 2017. As seen in Speed Darlington’s childhood pictures, the singer grew up dancing and eventually ventured into music under the undeniable influence of his parents.
