United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) has disclosed plans to build a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Enugu state once it gets approval from the state government.

Obiora Okonkwo, the chairman of the local airline, stated this during a business meeting with Governor Peter Mbah in Enugu. According to a source, Okonkwo said the airline has always wanted to establish a strong presence in the state by constructing an MRO and a strategic head office.

The chairman stated that as soon as the state government approves the company’s request for land, it will increase its presence in Enugu and build appropriate staff quarters.

He stated that since Enugu is now the airline’s host state, state government clearance is essential for the plan to construct an MRO, headquarters, and staff housing.

On his part, Mbah celebrated the airline on its third anniversary. The governor also assured the airline of the state government’s support in realising its regional goals. He said to draw in investors, Enugu is already cleaning up the business climate.
