Cordelia Bert-Okonkwor Hosts Successful VCO-UNIZIK 10km Marathon

The VCO-UNIZIK 10km Marathon, organized by the SUG Director of Sports Comr Cordelia Bert-Okonkwor in partnership with VCO Foundation, has been described as a resounding success. The Marathon which held on the 20th April ,2024 brought together students and sports enthusiasts from the institution.

The event, which aimed to promote youth development and physical fitness bore eloquent testimony to the efforts of the Student Union Government (SUG) Director of Sports, Comrade Cordelia Bert-Okonkwor.

Reacting to the success of the event, the Founder VCO Foundation, Mr Val Ozigbo said, “I was elated to witness the joy and camaraderie among the students”.

While appreciating Mr Val Ozigbo for his intervention, the institution’s Director of Sports (SUG) Cordelia Bert Okonkwo said “The VCO Foundation has truly done an amazing job in terms of youth development in Anambra State, and I want to appreciate every member of the team who made this event possible.”

In the male category, Igwe Bethel Ihechukwu from the Faculty of Agriculture, Imo State, clinched the first position, followed by Mefor Chukwuebuka Daniel from the Faculty of Education, Anambra State, and Ajogwu Simon Okechukwu from the Faculty of Biosciences, Enugu State.

In the female category, Nwagba Amarachukwu Promise from the Faculty of Social Science, Anambra State, took the top spot, with Ozoemena Amarachi Agatha from the Faculty of Arts, Anambra State, and Okechukwu Oluchukwu Purity from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Anambra State, securing the second and third positions, respectively.

The event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, including the VCO Foundation, Moneypoint, Infinix Nigeria, and DLK Clothing, all of whom were praised for their contributions.

“This amazing event would not have been possible without all the amazing sponsors,” Cordelia noted. “Let us do more amazing things for Ndi Anambra and Nigeria at large!”

The VCO-UNIZIK 10km Marathon has not only fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among the students but has also inspired them to pursue their dreams and maintain a healthy lifestyle, regardless of the challenges they may face.
